“if you then have dealt truly and righteously with Jerubbaal and with his house today, then rejoice in Abimelech, and let him also rejoice in you;”
What does Judges 9:19 mean?
Jotham is speaking this conditional statement to the people of Shechem after his brother Abimelech has just been made king through violence and manipulation. He's essentially saying: if you've truly honored Gideon (Jerubbaal) and treated his family fairly, then you can genuinely celebrate Abimelech's reign.
