“He came to the men of Succoth, and said, “See Zebah and Zalmunna, concerning whom you taunted me, saying, ‘Are the hands of Zebah and Zalmunna now in your hand, that we should give bread to your men who are weary?’””
What does Judges 8:15 mean?
Gideon is reminding the people of Succoth of their mockery when he'd asked for help during his battle. They'd essentially laughed at him, saying "Why should we feed your army when you haven't even caught those enemy kings yet?" Now, having won the battle through what he saw as God's power, he's confronting them with the reality of what they refused to believe would happen. This moment shows how shame and doubt from others can cut deep, even when we're doing what we believe God has called us to do. Gideon held onto their words, remembered them word-for-word, and comes back to them later.
