What does Judges 6:20 mean?
Gideon is being called by God to lead Israel against the Midianites, but he's terrified and uncertain. Before this moment, he's been asking for signs to confirm God is really speaking to him. The angel of God now asks him to make an offering, transforming Gideon's doubt into an act of faith and obedience, even though he doesn't fully understand what's happening. When Gideon does exactly what he's told, pouring out the meal and broth on the rock, something miraculous occurs: fire consumes the offering right there on the stone. This becomes the sign Gideon needs. Sometimes faith isn't about having all the answers first, it's about taking the next small step of obedience, even when we're afraid or confused. That willingness to act, despite our fear, often opens the door to experiencing God's presence in a real and undeniable way.
