Judges 6:14
“Yahweh looked at him, and said, “Go in this your might, and save Israel from the hand of Midian. Haven’t I sent you?””
What does Judges 6:14 mean?
God is commissioning Gideon to lead Israel's defense against the Midianites, but notice something striking in his words: "Go in this your might." Gideon likely felt weak and afraid (he was hiding in a winepress when the angel found him), yet God sees something in him worth sending. The closing question, "Haven't I sent you?" isn't really a question at all—it's God's way of saying that his calling itself is enough. When we feel inadequate for the difficult things God asks of us, this verse reminds us that we're not sent because we're naturally capable or confident, but because God has chosen us and promises to stand behind that choice.
