Judges 6:10
“I said to you, “I am Yahweh your God. You shall not fear the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell.” But you have not listened to my voice.’””
What does Judges 6:10 mean?
God is reminding the Israelites of a promise he made to them: that he would be their God, and they wouldn't need to fear the false gods worshipped by the nations around them. Yet despite this assurance, the people have ignored what God told them and have drifted into worshipping idols instead. This is God speaking through a prophet to a generation that has forgotten the foundation of their faith, much like we sometimes forget the truths we've been taught when life gets confusing or when we see others doing things differently. The verse carries both comfort (God hasn't abandoned his promise to protect them) and a gentle rebuke (their problem isn't God's weakness, but their own wandering hearts).
