What does Judges 3:2 mean?
After the Israelites conquered the promised land, an entire generation grew up in peace and had never experienced battle. God allowed surrounding nations to remain in the land partly so that young Israelites would learn military skills and discipline through actual conflict, rather than becoming soft or unprepared. This verse reflects an ancient reality: survival often depended on knowing how to defend yourself, and that knowledge had to be passed down through practice and experience. It's a reminder that sometimes what seems like a setback or an incomplete victory actually serves a larger purpose in shaping people's character and capability.
