Judges 2:16
“Yahweh raised up judges, who saved them out of the hand of those who plundered them.”
What does Judges 2:16 mean?
After the Israelites had turned away from God and found themselves trapped under the control of their enemies, God didn't abandon them. Instead, he raised up leaders (called judges) who were empowered to rescue his people and restore their freedom. These weren't judges in a courtroom sense, but rather military leaders and spiritual figures whom God equipped to deliver Israel from oppression. This verse shows a pattern of God's mercy: when his people cry out in their suffering, he responds by sending help, even when they've strayed from him.
