Joshua 3:7
“Yahweh said to Joshua, “Today I will begin to magnify you in the sight of all Israel, that they may know that as I was with Moses, so I will be with you.”
What does Joshua 3:7 mean?
God is making Joshua a promise right at the threshold of his greatest challenge, as he's about to lead Israel across the Jordan River into the promised land. The Lord is essentially saying, "Watch what I'm about to do through you, and everyone will see that I'm backing you the same way I backed Moses." This matters because Joshua was Moses's successor, and the people naturally wondered if their new leader had the same divine authority. God's promise to act powerfully through Joshua wasn't just about reassuring him personally, but about giving the entire nation confidence that they were still under God's protection and guidance. It's a beautiful reminder that sometimes God proves himself faithful not just to us individually, but in ways that strengthen everyone around us.
