Joshua 3:6

What does Joshua 3:6 mean?
Joshua is ordering the priests to carry the ark of the covenant at the front of Israel's procession as they're about to cross the Jordan River into the promised land. The ark, a sacred chest holding the stone tablets of God's law, represented God's direct presence with his people, so placing it first was both a practical guide and a spiritual statement: we're moving forward because God leads us.
