What does Joshua 23:1 mean?
Joshua has finally reached the quiet season of his life, and so has Israel. After decades of fighting to claim the land God promised, the battles are over and the people can actually settle down and build homes, plant crops, and live in peace. This verse marks a natural pause in the story, the kind of moment when an aging leader looks back on what has been accomplished and thinks about what needs to be said to the next generation. Joshua is entering his final chapter, and he's about to give his people some crucial reminders about staying faithful to God.
