What does Joshua 22:6 mean?

Joshua has just finished dividing the promised land among all twelve tribes of Israel. The two and a half tribes who settled east of the Jordan River have completed their military duty, fighting alongside their brothers to conquer Canaan, and now they're being released to go home. Joshua's blessing here is deeply significant, a formal affirmation that their faithfulness and sacrifice have been seen and honored. When he sends them away in peace, he's saying: your service matters, you belong to this community, and God goes with you even as you separate. For anyone who has poured themselves into something demanding or felt the bittersweet moment of stepping back from a shared mission, there's comfort in knowing that a good leader recognizes the cost and honors it.
