What does Joshua 2:10 mean?
The people of Jericho are trembling because they've heard the stories of what Israel's God has done. Word had spread across the region about the parting of the Red Sea during the exodus from Egypt, and more recently, about Israel's military victories against two powerful kings east of the Jordan River. When Rahab speaks these words to the Israelite spies, she's acknowledging that their reputation precedes them, and that fear of God's power is already working on her heart. What's striking here is that faith sometimes begins not with personal experience but with listening to what others have witnessed, recognizing a pattern of God's faithfulness and strength that seems undeniable.
