What does Joshua 19:2 mean?

This verse lists the cities given to the tribe of Simeon as their territorial inheritance in Canaan. Beersheba was a significant settlement in the southern part of the land, already familiar to the Israelites from earlier stories about Abraham and Isaac. Simeon's portion was smaller and less prominent than other tribes, nestled within or near Judah's territory, which shaped their later history and influence.
