Joshua 16:9
βtogether with the cities which were set apart for the children of Ephraim in the middle of the inheritance of the children of Manasseh, all the cities with their villages.β
What does Joshua 16:9 mean?
When the Israelites divided the promised land among the tribes, the territory didn't always come in one neat piece. Ephraim received several cities that were actually surrounded by or scattered throughout Manasseh's region, which created a kind of patchwork inheritance. This verse is simply documenting that arrangement, making clear that Ephraim's full allocation included both their main territory and these separate towns embedded within their neighbor's land. It's a reminder that sometimes God's provision comes in unexpected patterns, and what matters isn't having everything in one convenient package, but receiving what's been truly given to you.
