What does Joshua 15:55 mean?
This verse simply lists four towns that belonged to the tribe of Judah in the hill country. Each of these places had its own significance in Israel's history, though this particular passage is just cataloging the territorial boundaries after Joshua's conquest. Knowing where these settlements were helps us understand how the land was divided among the tribes, and some of these towns (like Ziph and Carmel) show up later in stories where people hid from danger or sought refuge in their hills.
