Joshua 14:6
“Then the children of Judah came near to Joshua in Gilgal. Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite said to him, “You know the thing that Yahweh spoke to Moses the man of God concerning me and concerning you in Kadesh Barnea.”
What does Joshua 14:6 mean?
Caleb is reminding Joshua of a promise God made decades earlier, during the wilderness wandering. When the Israelites first approached the promised land at Kadesh Barnea, Caleb was one of twelve spies sent to scout it out, and he's the one who came back with faith and courage, saying they should trust God and go in. Now, after forty years of waiting, Caleb is holding God to that word, asking Joshua to remember and honor what the Lord once said about him. This moment shows something beautiful about faith: Caleb didn't forget God's promise through all those hard years in the desert. He kept it close and trusted it would come true. He's not being pushy or demanding; he's respectfully reminding Joshua that God's word matters and lasts, and he's ready to claim what God had already spoken over his life.
