Joshua 1:5
“No man will be able to stand before you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not fail you nor forsake you.”
What does Joshua 1:5 mean?
God speaks these words to Joshua as he takes over leadership of Israel after Moses dies, and they're meant to steady him for the enormous task ahead. The promise has three layers: first, that his enemies won't be able to withstand him in battle; second, that God's presence with him will be the same faithful presence that sustained Moses through forty years of wilderness wandering; and third, a commitment that God won't abandon him or let him down.
