John 9:20
“His parents answered them, “We know that this is our son, and that he was born blind;”
What does John 9:20 mean?
The parents of the man born blind are answering the religious leaders who are interrogating them about their son's healing. They're confirming the basic facts, which would have been obvious to anyone in their community: yes, this is definitely their son, and yes, he was born without sight. By sticking to what they personally know and can verify, they're being careful and honest, perhaps sensing that the religious leaders are looking for reasons to discredit the healing that Jesus performed. Sometimes when we're questioned or challenged about our own experiences, the safest and truest response is simply to share what we've personally witnessed, without overreaching or adding more than we know.
