What does John 6:66 mean?
This moment captures something painfully real: when Jesus taught that people must eat his flesh and drink his blood (meaning they must be fully united with him, depend on him completely), many followers decided it was too hard and walked away. They had signed up expecting one thing and encountered something far more demanding and mysterious than they bargained for. What's striking is that Jesus didn't soften his message to keep them. He let them leave. He asked his closest twelve if they wanted to go too, and Peter answered that despite not understanding everything, he knew Jesus had the words of eternal life. Sometimes following Jesus means staying even when it's uncomfortable, unexplainable, and countercultural, not because it feels good but because there's nowhere else worth going.
