What does John 6:63 mean?

Jesus is drawing a crucial distinction between two kinds of nourishment for human beings. The physical body needs physical food, yes, but our deepest life, our truest self, is fed by something invisible: the Spirit's presence and Jesus's words, which carry spiritual reality and power. When he says the flesh profits nothing in this context, he's not calling the body evil, but rather reminding us that material things alone cannot satisfy the hunger in our souls. His words aren't just information to understand with our minds, they're living truth meant to awaken and transform us from the inside out. If you're going through something that makes you feel hollow no matter what you achieve or acquire, Jesus is pointing you toward the real source of life.
