What does John 6:48 mean?

Jesus uses everyday language to describe himself in a way his listeners could grasp. Bread was essential to survival in that culture, showing up on tables daily. When he says he's the bread of life, he's claiming to be what sustains us at the deepest level, not just physically but spiritually. He's inviting people to find in him the nourishment and meaning that truly satisfies, the kind that lasts beyond temporary hunger.
