John 6:45
“It is written in the prophets, ‘They will all be taught by God.’ Therefore everyone who hears from the Father, and has learned, comes to me.”
What does John 6:45 mean?
Jesus is pointing to an Old Testament promise that God himself will be the teacher of his people, making them truly know him from the inside out. He's saying that when people genuinely encounter God's teaching and respond to it, they naturally find their way to him—because learning from God and coming to Jesus are really the same thing. There's something deeply hopeful here: you don't need to figure everything out on your own or earn your way to understanding. God is actively teaching anyone willing to listen, and that teaching draws you closer to Jesus. For those of us struggling to understand faith or feeling lost, this verse suggests that God's desire to teach us might already be at work, even when we don't recognize it.
