John 6:27

What does John 6:27 mean?
Jesus isn't telling you to quit your job or ignore your need for groceries. He's drawing a contrast between spending all your energy chasing things that don't ultimately satisfy and pursuing what actually fills you spiritually and lasts forever. The "food that perishes" represents everything we chase thinking it will make us complete—money, status, security—only to find it leaves us hungry again. When Jesus says he offers "food which remains to eternal life," he's inviting you into a relationship with God that genuinely nourishes your deepest self. The mention of God's seal shows this isn't just Jesus making a nice offer on his own; it's backed by God the Father himself, so it's trustworthy and real. You can work and provide for yourself, but the real sustenance comes from trusting Jesus and letting him meet the longings that no paycheck ever could.
