John 5:32

It is another who testifies about me. I know that the testimony which he testifies about me is true.

What does John 5:32 mean?

Jesus is speaking here about God the Father, acknowledging that his own claims about himself need backing up from another trustworthy source. Rather than asking us to simply take his word for it, he points to the Father's witness—through miracles, Scripture, and the work of the Holy Spirit—as proof that what he says is true. It's a humble move, actually, showing that Jesus welcomes investigation and isn't asking for blind faith. He's confident enough in his mission that he can point away from himself to God's verification of who he is.
