What does John 4:3 mean?

Jesus left the region of Judea (where Jerusalem was located) and traveled north to Galilee, where he'd grown up. This shift marks an important turning point in John's Gospel: after his early ministry and some tension with religious authorities in Judea, he moves to a region where he can teach more freely and reach different communities. It's a simple statement of geography, but it shows how Jesus responded to circumstances by going where his message would be received, which is something many of us understand from our own lives when we know it's time to move on.
