What does John 4:2 mean?
This is a parenthetical note that might seem odd at first, but it's actually quite practical. John is clarifying that while Jesus' ministry was attracting crowds and his followers were baptizing people, Jesus himself wasn't performing the baptisms, his disciples were doing that work. It's a small detail, but it tells us something important: Jesus didn't need the ceremonial act to validate his mission or authority. His presence and teaching were enough. The verse suggests that ministry isn't always about the leader doing everything personally, but about empowering others to carry out the work.
