What does John 3:22 mean?

After his conversation with Nicodemus in Jerusalem, Jesus and his followers traveled into the surrounding Judean countryside, where he settled in for a season of ministry. This was still early in his public work, and he was baptizing people himself, which shows that baptism was already central to how he called people to follow God's way. It's a quieter moment in the Gospel accounts, but it marks an important shift: Jesus wasn't just teaching and performing miracles in one place, but actively moving through the land and inviting people into a transformed life through baptism.
