What does John 3:17 mean?
God's purpose in sending Jesus wasn't to condemn people or keep score of their failures. Instead, Jesus came as an offer of rescue, healing, and new life for anyone willing to receive it. This is meant to be deeply comforting: when you're struggling with guilt or shame, remember that Jesus' mission was fundamentally one of restoration, not punishment. The judgment we sometimes fear comes not from Christ's heart, but from our own resistance to the love and forgiveness he's offering.
