John 3:12
“If I told you earthly things and you don’t believe, how will you believe if I tell you heavenly things?”
What does John 3:12 mean?
Jesus is pointing out a real problem with his listeners: they're struggling to accept what he's explaining about spiritual reality even when he uses everyday examples they can see and touch. If they can't grasp the basics of God's kingdom when he grounds it in earthly experiences, how will they possibly understand the deeper mysteries of heaven and eternal life? It's a gentle challenge wrapped in a logical question, inviting people to examine their own resistance and openness. Sometimes our doubt doesn't come from lack of evidence but from unwillingness to let our understanding shift.
