John 21:4
“But when day had already come, Jesus stood on the beach, yet the disciples didn’t know that it was Jesus.”
What does John 21:4 mean?
Early morning light is breaking over the water, and the disciples are exhausted from fishing all night without success. A figure appears on the shore, but their tired eyes and the distance between them make recognition impossible. What's striking here is that even after everything they've witnessed, even after the resurrection, they don't immediately know him. It's a moment that captures how grief and weariness can cloud our perception, and how Jesus sometimes meets us in ways we don't expect or recognize at first.
