What does John 21:22 mean?

Peter has just been restored after denying Jesus, and now he's curious about what will happen to John, another disciple. Jesus redirects him with a gentle but firm reminder: comparing yourself to someone else's path distracts you from your own calling. The underlying message is that God's plans for different people look different, and that's perfectly okay. What matters isn't understanding everyone else's journey or timeline, but staying focused on your own relationship with Jesus and the specific way he's calling you to follow him. This is deeply comforting when you're tempted to wonder why your story doesn't look like someone else's, or why God seems to be moving differently in another person's life.
