John 20:6
“Then Simon Peter came, following him, and entered into the tomb. He saw the linen cloths lying,”
What does John 20:6 mean?
Peter rushes into the empty tomb and notices the burial cloths scattered inside. What strikes him here is that the body is gone but the linens remain, undisturbed and organized (the other Gospel accounts mention they're folded or still shaped as if the body had been there). This detail matters because it rules out grave robbers, who would have taken everything quickly, linens and all. Peter is witnessing something his mind struggles to process: evidence that Jesus has risen, not been stolen away.
