What does John 18:7 mean?
In this moment, Jesus is being arrested in the garden, and he's doing something remarkable: he's asking his captors to state their purpose clearly. When they answer that they're looking for Jesus of Nazareth, they're identifying him directly, yet Jesus already knows who they are and why they've come.
