What does John 18:36 mean?
When Jesus said his kingdom isn't "of this world," he meant it doesn't operate by worldly power, politics, or force. He's explaining why his followers aren't taking up weapons to defend him during his arrest, even though an earthly kingdom would naturally do exactly that to protect its king. This doesn't mean his kingdom is distant or unreal, but rather that it works differently than human governments do. It spreads through love, sacrifice, and spiritual transformation rather than through armies and coercion.
