What does John 18:19 mean?
The high priest is trying to build a case against Jesus by getting him to incriminate himself or his followers. He wants Jesus to explain his teachings and name names, perhaps hoping for admissions that could be used as evidence in the trial ahead. It's a interrogation tactic, pure and simple.
