John 17:19
“For their sakes I sanctify myself, that they themselves also may be sanctified in truth.”
What does John 17:19 mean?
Jesus is speaking here about setting himself apart for a holy purpose, and that purpose is directly connected to us. He's saying that his own dedication to God's will and obedience makes it possible for his followers to become holy and true as well. It's like he's clearing a path through his own faithfulness so that we can walk toward God without obstruction. The beautiful part is that this sanctification (becoming set apart for God) isn't something we have to manufacture on our own—it flows from what Jesus has already done and continues to do for us.
