“As you sent me into the world, even so I have sent them into the world.”
What does John 17:18 mean?
Jesus is describing his disciples' purpose by drawing a parallel to his own mission. Just as God sent Jesus into the world to bring redemption and healing, Jesus is now sending his followers out to continue that work. This isn't about earning God's favor or proving ourselves, but about participating in something already underway, carrying forward the compassion and truth Jesus embodied.
