What does John 14:22 mean?
Judas is confused, and his question cuts to something many people wonder about faith. Jesus has just promised that he and the Father will make their home in anyone who loves and obeys him, and Judas is asking why this intimate revelation seems reserved for the disciples rather than broadcast to everyone. It's a fair question on the surface: if Jesus is the Son of God, why not prove it publicly and convince the whole world at once? Jesus's answer (in the next verse) points to something deeper: knowing him isn't primarily about intellectual proof or spectacular signs. It's about loving him enough to keep his word, which opens a door that skepticism and demand for evidence keeps closed. The real barrier to faith isn't information, it's willingness to surrender and follow. That's why the revelation Jesus offers can't be forced on the unwilling, even if everyone could see the same miracle.
