John 14:21

β€œOne who has my commandments, and keeps them, that person is one who loves me. One who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him, and will reveal myself to him.””

What does John 14:21 mean?

Jesus is describing a kind of love that shows itself in action. When we keep his teachings, we're not just following rules, we're demonstrating that we genuinely care about what he cares about. It's like how you show love to someone by honoring what matters to them. What follows is a beautiful promise of intimacy and belonging. Jesus says that this love doesn't stay hidden or distant, but creates a relationship where God the Father loves you, where Jesus himself loves you, and where you get to experience his actual presence in your life. That last part, "reveal myself," suggests something personal and real, not just abstract knowledge about God but a direct encounter with who he truly is. This speaks to something many people long for in hard seasons: evidence that they're truly known and loved, not because they've earned it, but because they've opened themselves to relationship. The love Jesus describes flows both ways when we're willing to walk with him.
