John 14:2

In my Father’s house are many homes. If it weren’t so, I would have told you. I am going to prepare a place for you.

What does John 14:2 mean?

Jesus is speaking to his disciples just before his death, reassuring them about what comes after. He's telling them that God's home (heaven) has plenty of room, and he's actively preparing a specific place for each of them. The promise isn't vague or uncertain: Jesus says he would have been honest about it if there weren't enough space. For people facing loss, fear about the future, or wondering if they belong, this verse offers deep comfort. It suggests that you're not an afterthought or a crowd to be squeezed in somewhere, but someone for whom a particular place is being prepared. The personal care implied here is striking: Jesus doesn't just say "there's a place," but "a place for you."
