“I will pray to the Father, and he will give you another Counselor, that he may be with you forever,—”
What does John 14:16 mean?
Jesus is promising his followers that after he returns to heaven, God will send the Holy Spirit to be their constant companion and guide. The word "Counselor" means someone who walks alongside you, offering wisdom, comfort, and strength for whatever comes your way. This isn't a distant promise for the future, but an assurance that God's presence through the Holy Spirit remains intimately close to those who believe, helping them through confusion, grief, courage, and everyday decisions.
