What does John 13:31 mean?
Jesus speaks these words just after Judas leaves the table to betray him, which might seem like an odd moment to talk about glory. But Jesus sees what's about to unfold, not as a defeat, but as the moment when God's love and character will be most fully revealed through his sacrifice on the cross. When Jesus talks about being "glorified," he means being lifted up in a way that shows who he truly is and what God is really like, even though it will happen through suffering.
