What does John 13:29 mean?
The disciples are in the middle of their last meal together when Jesus tells Judas to leave, but most of them have no idea what's actually happening. Since Judas manages their group's money and supplies, they naturally assume he's being sent out on a routine errand, either to buy last-minute food for the Passover celebration or to deliver an act of charity to those in need. This moment captures the terrible irony of the scene: while the other disciples remain confused and unsuspicious, Judas is walking out into the night to betray Jesus. It's a poignant reminder of how much can be hidden in plain sight, and how the most significant moments of our lives sometimes pass unrecognized by those around us.
