John 12:26
βIf anyone serves me, let him follow me. Where I am, there will my servant also be. If anyone serves me, the Father will honor him.β
What does John 12:26 mean?
Jesus is laying out what it truly means to belong to him. Following isn't a casual agreement or something we do from a distance, it's about going where he goes, adopting his way of life, and letting his priorities shape ours. The promise here is both comforting and challenging. When we commit to serving Jesus, we're not signing up for a solo journey, we're entering into his presence and his purpose. And there's something remarkable in the final part: the Father himself honors those who genuinely serve Jesus. This isn't about earning points or getting recognition from the world, it's about being valued and affirmed by God in ways that matter eternally, even when nobody else notices.
