What does John 1:49 mean?
Nathanael's declaration comes right after Jesus simply says he saw him under a fig tree, before they'd even met. It's a moment of sudden recognition, where someone Jesus barely knows bursts out with the deepest possible confession of who Jesus is. What makes this striking is how quickly Nathanael moves from skepticism (he'd just asked if anything good could come from Nazareth) to absolute conviction based on a single supernatural insight.
