John 1:32
“John testified, saying, “I have seen the Spirit descending like a dove out of heaven, and it remained on him.”
What does John 1:32 mean?
John the Baptist is describing the moment he witnessed Jesus being baptized. He saw something extraordinary: the Holy Spirit coming down visibly, in the form of a dove, and staying on Jesus. This wasn't just an internal experience John felt—he actually saw it happen, which gave him confidence to tell others who Jesus really was. The image of a dove represents gentleness, peace, and purity, showing us something about the nature of God's Spirit. John's testimony is his way of saying, "I was there, I saw it, and I'm telling you what I know to be true."
