What does John 1:24 mean?
The Pharisees in Jerusalem had heard reports about John the Baptist and wanted to know who he was and what authority he claimed. John's answer—that he was simply preparing the way for someone greater—didn't satisfy them, since he refused to claim a dramatic title or role for himself.
