What does Job 4:11 mean?
Eliphaz uses this image of a dying lion and scattered cubs to suggest that suffering comes from weakness or wrongdoing. He's implying that just as a lion fails when it can't hunt, people fail when they've done something wrong—and that Job's troubles must mean he's fallen short somehow. It's worth knowing that Eliphaz is one of Job's friends who, despite good intentions, keeps insisting Job must have sinned to deserve his pain.
