Job 37:14
““Listen to this, Job. Stand still, and consider the wondrous works of God.”
What does Job 37:14 mean?
Elihu, one of Job's friends, is calling him to pause the argument and simply observe the world around him. After chapters of debate about suffering and fairness, Elihu is suggesting that sometimes the best response to life's hardest questions isn't more talking, but stepping back to notice the reality of God's power and care. In this moment, looking at nature, storm clouds, seasons, and creation itself might teach Job something his mind alone cannot grasp. There's wisdom in the invitation to be still, especially when we're worn down by trying to solve the unsolvable.
