Job 37:13
“Whether it is for correction, or for his land, or for loving kindness, that he causes it to come.”
What does Job 37:13 mean?
God sends rain and storms for different purposes, and sometimes we can't immediately tell which one it is. This verse reminds us that what feels harsh or uncomfortable might actually be correcting us when we've drifted off course, or blessing the land and crops we depend on, or simply an expression of God's care for creation and humanity. Elihu, who speaks here near the end of Job's suffering, is helping Job see that difficult circumstances aren't meaningless, even when they hurt. The hardest seasons often contain all three: correction for our souls, provision for our world, and evidence that we're never outside God's concern.
